Sarah Presson - Who I Am

When I was a kid growing up in Jackson, Tennessee, my parents liked to say, “Sarah’s never met a stranger.” When I take on a job, I take on a friendship. I like to hang out so I can get to know my client as a person while I get to know their brand as an art director.  The way it works is: I bring my entire office (carried in suitcases) to my client’s space, so I can see what they see and hear what they hear as I set up shop. I believe that it is the people and the ideas behind any business that makes the brand strong, and not the other way around.

So, it seems only fair that if I’m going to get to know you, you should know a little bit about me. I got my  BFA with an emphasis in graphic design from Mississippi State University in 2006. While there, I helped start Main Street Arts, a community art school for children and adults. I relocated to Austin five years ago and, after a brief stint in Louisiana, got back here as fast as I could. Now, in addition to the work I do with EyeLIkeDesign, I work as an artist mentor at St. Andrews Upper School, helping students learn the art of graphic design.

I did time in the corporate world, and man, I’m done with that.  But I’m taking all the tricks I learned there to develop brands for people I truly believe in. That’s why I formed EyeLIkeDesign: To help small businesses and creative individuals with real potential pollinate ideas and watch them grow.

So what do you think- need a friend?
